Stamford & District Bowls League Home

Welcome to the Stamford & District Bowls League website.

We hope you will find the information here interesting and useful  - look around the website to find out more about the League.

The Stamford & District Bowls League has been promoting inter-club bowling in the local area since 1967. The League itself operates on two evenings a week – Mondays and Fridays. For 2022, we have 27 teams who will compete in three divisions.

As well as the twice-weekly league matches, we run three competitions - the Boor & Wainwright Shield, the Duncomb Shield and the Oddfellows Charity Rosebowl competition. There is also the President's Gala, which supports the President's chosen charity for that year.

In addition to the details of the fixtures and results, you will find profiles of each club, the league's rules and constitution and a short history of the league. There is also a Photo Gallery, a Club News page and an Events Diary; we hope you will let us know about events at your club that would interest other bowlers.

Click on the menu bars (top left-hand corner) to see all the tabs.

Notice from the Committee

Duncomb Shield competition:

The Committee apologises to all teams who have entered the Duncomb Shield competition for the last-minute change in format. In recognition of the additional commitments of some teams, it has been agreed that play-by dates can be extended on request. Please inform Pete Linnell if you are unable to meet a deadline.

Boor & Wainwright competition:

For 2022, the top team in each of the 5 groups will go forward to the quarter finals. The other 3 teams will be selected from those teams who have lost only one match, taking aggregate scores into account on a pro rata basis, to account for teams in different groups having played different numbers of games. The draw will be published after all the results have been entered.

Reminder: Having once played in any round of the competition a player shall then be “cup-tied” to any other competing team. Players registered for another team within the club are not eligible.
